The narrow streets and plazas in one of Lisbon’s oldest neighborhoods, Alfama, have mesmerized locals and visitors alike with its colorful walls, cable cars, and fleeting glimpses out over the sparkling harbor for generations. So when Ana and Ricardo wanted to take us to Alfama
for a romantic sunset photoshoot in Lisbon, we were keen as beans!
When we arrived that afternoon we noticed that there was a ton of people in the streets and they all seemed to be gearing up for something big. Turns out Ana and Ricardo had a wee surprise in store for us after the session was all done so read on.
These two were just lovely genuine love bunnies <3 They showed us around the ancient narrow alleyways and we explored every colored doorway and time-weathered wall the neighborhood had to offer with them. Chatting all the while, about life, love, and the best food in Lisbon!
After the sun went down, we wrapped up our shoot but the party wasn’t over. Really! Turns out that evening was the first night of The Feast of St. Anthony festival! People turned out in droves and the town became one big celebration, with amazing sangria and grilled sardines on local bread at every corner – sardines being a food that is associated with the poor and hence with St Anthony, who apparently had taken a vow of poverty.
We wound up their romantic sunset photoshoot in Lisbon dancing in the middle of a mosh pit like people do when they’ve had a few too many sangria’s – So thanks for all the amazing memories Ana and Ricardo <3
