We are writing today’s blog while slumped in a beanbag on the living room floor of our very own home in New Zealand. It’s a weird feeling because for nearly two years now we have been on the road, meeting and photographing some of the most incredible people this world can produce and today (after so long) we find ourselves back in this same spot and it almost feels like it was all a dream! We are back for only a few weeks as we fix up the place ready for the next tenants to move in, but it’s really got us reflecting on the life we are living, things we are creating and the people we create our bonds with! Cue these two sweethearts! We are just so lucky to have spent a day with Allison & Ben, sharing in their epic prewedding photoshoot around Queenstown,
just one day before their incredible Mount Cook Elopement together.
Having already warmed up on their stunning two-day long prewedding photoshoot in Milford Sound, things felt so smooth as we all jumped out of the car
to begin their Sunrise photoshoot in Queenstown on a brisk and promising morning.
Together we watched as the skies grew darker and more beautiful, creating an enchanting curtain for the sun to dance behind.
Then as some showers began to roll in we found ourselves bouncing speedily down windy gravel roads we chased a rainbow to wrap up the morning.
It was such an amazing feeling!
Jump ahead a few hours – We have all had a big breakfast and are now levitating hesitantly above a windy ridge high up in the Southern Alps. The Helicopter is shaking about like a roller coaster and we have to make the uneasy decision to head a little further down the mountain to find a spot that will let us land in one piece! Turn’s out it was a stunning place to explore. The wind was howling up the valley, Ali and Ben were just so in love and serendipity had literally landed us in paradise… but the day wasn’t over yet!
After we had landed safely back in Queenstown, we stopped for a quick lunch and then pushed on for a 3-hour drive north to finish out the day at one of our favorite geological oddities, the Clay Cliffs. Daaang, what a day we all shared! It’s little wonder that as we sit here now, back in our home base, steering up at the hardwood ceiling that it feels all a little unreal… It’s kinda like that feeling you get as you walk out of a movie theater and the events of the last 90 minutes begin to fade, only our flick has been running for some 20 odd months <3
We are so, sooo lucky to have all of you amazing people in our lives! Allison and Ben taught us so much about their particular brand of love during that week we spent exploring, chatting, road tripping, fighting fatigue, cooking dinners and drinking beers together. There’s no other word for it so we’ll just say it…
We are blessed you guys <3
So, on that note, scroll on down and check out the day as it was on Ali and Ben’s epic prewedding photoshoot around Queenstown, just one day before their incredible Mount Cook Elopement together – so stay tuned for that spectacular finale as well!!
