New Zealand Wedding Photographer | Tinted Photography | Destination Wedding Photographer
It’s been a great year to be a New Zealand Wedding Photographer.
We photographed honeymoon sessions, weddings, so many pre-wedding moments and even surprise proposals in New Zealand.
Also, this is the year we met Pablo and Ana! Pablo Laguia has been our all-time favorite photographer and now they are some of finest humans and friends we know! (More about them below…)
The joy of building relationships and making memories has been real <3
Ok, so we know we are a little late to the party with this update but the massive year that was 2017, has spilled over into a kick-ass 2018 in a perfect storm of good times and great people leaving us very little time to process whats been happening! 2017 has been beyond beautiful. Yes, the political climate of the world has been less than ideal but our own personal world has been lit with stories of love and friendship, with the joy of travel and accolades and with it a wash of humbleness that has filled our hearts.
So the word that comes to mind when we look back at 2017 has to be ‘travel’
We traveled outside our comfort zone!
2017 saw one of the biggest changes in how we operate since we launched Tinted way back in in 2012! It was late in December, but after working full time as a Graphic Designer and driving home each day to me and Tinted for five wedding seasons, Ben has finally made the jump to full-time Photographer and traveling office buddy.
We are excited beyond words!
It’s a huge commitment and will mean that the TWO of us we can now absolutely be there 100% for our couples.
Gone are the days of juggling annual leave and driving home late to be at the office the next morning! 2017 saw us pack our things into the attic, rent our house to an amazing young couple and take the plunge into our first truly unencumbered international undertaking.
Full-time Adventure Photographers in New Zealand and around the world and kick-ass husband and wife duo :)
We so can’t wait to explore the ins and outs of our incredible industry together. 2018 will see us hanging out with some of our favourite couples and Photographers from around the globe, creating more magic than ever before and discovering what an extra 40 hours a week to focus on being creative and supportive will bring – but that’s another story :)
We traveled to document Love!
Last year delivered us a huge surge in international couples to our shores the likes of which we had not seen before!
And of course, our little adventure in Europe helped put even more amazing and wonderful couples in front of our lenses. 2017 turned out to be a year for long flights and long drives that took us to some of the most breathtaking corners of New Zealand, Australia, Denmark, Germany, France and Spain where we had the pleasure of creating magic while exploring new parts of this little blue dot of ours and making some amazing friendships in the process. We absolutely love what we do and are so lucky to do it so we want to take this chance to thank everyone whose paths crossed with ours in 2017 for enriching our lives and filling our hearts with everything good about humanity :)
We traveled for love!
Every year the two of us have at least one photoshoot done. It helps to put us in our client’s shoes and we get to hang out and rub shoulders with other photographers that inspire and gell with us.
In February 2017 we had the opportunity to meet up with and be photographed by one of our long-time favorite artists from Spain.
You should have been there to witness a totally excited Sirjana squealing and running around in circles as we confirmed the details with him in our living room in Cambridge (she is such a fan that won’t let anyone who would sit in his chair from that day on haha). The plan being that we would hop a plane to Christchurch, renew our vows and elope together with the insanely talented and inspiring Pablo Laguia and his amazing wife Ana. So it was that a couple of weeks later he captured all the smiles, the tears, and the love, somewhere way off the beaten track amongst the snowy peaks at Mount Cook National Park and what an unforgettable adventure it was! We got to share that moment with some of the nicest and most humble people there are… and to receive such incredible photos to boot, wow! We learned a lot about going with the flow from Pablo and made two great most raddest friends for life in the process! Check out his blog covering our elopement here (Pablo and Ana if you’re reading this, life is awesomer with friends like you!) .
We traveled to our Dreams
Whoohoo! 2017 was also a year for celebration as all those long drives and time spent waiting in airports paid off with not one but two of our photos winning Junebug’s Best Destination Photography 2017. An international accolade that saw us published in Cosmopolitan USA and UK and also a little improbably as a two page spread in the in-flight magazine for Ukraine Airlines! That was a random email to receive and they were nice enough to send us two copies of the final print all the way from Ukraine for us (it’s the little things that warm our hearts).
Speaking of warm hearts, we are super grateful for the love we have received on our social media in 2017! We now have over 2100 followers on Instagram and over 6000 on Facebook!
So a huge thank you to all those who are following us and (shameless plug) if you’re not already following us or can think of a few people who might like to, don’t forget to hit that ‘follow’ button and give them a gentle nudge in our direction next time you see them on Instagram!
There you can see our very latest work and follow us behind the scenes as we spend more time than ever before exploring the world and documenting love stories in 2018!
Plus there is so so soooo much more from the final weeks of this year that hasn’t been edited yet.
Also we are travelling and this is all we had at the moment…
So we will get back to the editing them but we wanted to do this quick post and thank you all for your support and love in 2017.
We would love it if you followed us and supported us on our massive adventure in 2018. 2018 will bring every day behind the scenes stories on our Instagram – so see you there.
