Sometimes I think summer is a state of mind.
For me, summer is synonymous with some good laughs, loving company, beautiful drinks and scrumptious food. The warm glow on your skin and bright bold colours soon follow and there you have it – you are immersed in Summer.
1st of December is touted as the first day of summer in New Zealand. The reality was a bit different. We all woke up that morning and the weather didn’t jibe with hype and dreams of a summer day. Sure enough, social media in New Zealand was full of grumpy messages about the failed promise of summer and some hashtags for weather gods to change their mind. I have to admit I was not very pleased wearing a puffer jacket that day – although I quite liked taking some Instagram selfies in it 😉
Ben however had different plans! As you would all know by now, we will be in India this year for a month out of the Kiwi summer (15 Dec -22 Jan); that means we will be going to the hemisphere which is currently welcoming winter. Shorter days and layered clothing is not very appealing when you have just arranged your wardrobe with bright floral prints and beach wear (even though I have to admit, India would be far more colourful than my colour collage of a wardrobe ) !
So, Ben came home yesterday with plans of celebrating summer and celebration we had.
Summer is definitely a state of mind!
