We had a blast photographing Helen and Ivan’s gorgeous wedding at the Grain Exchange. Their love is a gentle reminder about companionship, the joys of friendship and the butterflies of a passionate and pure connection.
We laughed and cried so much through their day.
Their day reminded us, once again, why we love this job. Even calling it a job feels laughable.
Here we were photographing two humans from two different cultures, who share a relationship based on love, respect and ever-increasing understanding of each other. The way they looked at each other and communicated true appreciation was so beautiful that it was a real learning experience.
Helen and Ivan met when Helen decided to go to the gym and that gym had quite a ‘yummy’ (Helen’s words!) instructor and she kept going back. It was almost a year later when Ivan who was obviously a complete professional, ran into Helen outside the gym, they had their first conversation,
but definitely not their last.
Following is an excerpt that their celebrant Hannah Porter wrote for and read at their ceremony…
“Ivan and Helen have found a perfect balance between independence and teamwork. They don’t need to be attached at the hip to know that they have an immense connection and love for one another. They are both beautiful people with beautiful hearts who constantly see the best in each other and in the world.”
Helen and Ivan’s Indian – Maori wedding at the Grain Exchange was definitely one that moved us, helped us learn more about love and made for some beautiful photos.
